During the war in Kosovo, I was based for six weeks in the Northern Albanian town of Kukes, reporting mostly on the massive refugee influx. My team and I befriended a young girl who had been separated from her parents during the chaotic flight to safety. We visited her almost everyday and with the help of relief agencies managed to find her mother.
